The Small Guide

When you visit us, we give you The Small Guide: a bespoke guide to Robertson Wine Valley, which we have created for our guests. It offers a selection of experiences, that encompass the surrounding, mostly family-run farms and smallholdings for you to enjoy and explore during your stay.

Arendsig Single Vineyard Wines

Winemaker Lourens van der Westhuizen will invite you into his cool cellar. With wine glasses in-hand he’ll take you from tank to tank to taste all his latest wines for an exclusive preview.

The farm’s name means ‘Eagle’s View’, and you’ll quickly understand the reference as you slowly walk through the vineyards to the tasting deck. The valley sprawls out below, the mountain rising steeply and walling it in, birds of prey circle above cutting through the blue sky. With this dramatic view as a background enjoy a wine tasting with the charismatic Lourens and his exceptional wines.

Single Vineyard Wines

Family-owned Arendsig is situated in the southern foothills of the Robertson Valley. Here single vineyard wines are made with minimal interference. During fermentation only natural yeasts are used and maturation takes place in neutral vessels to bring through the vineyard characteristics for the resultant site-specific wines. Lourens van der Westhuizen is something of a legend. Winemaker par excellence, he consults and makes wines for many of the region’s wineries too.
